Well hello! Cheers to our very FIRST blog post. Honestly, I have no clue about the blogging world, but I just feel like there is so much BTS that goes on with WillowBee and the barn nowadays, that I want to keep everyone in the loop and share a more in-depth look to what we do. You can always find a lot of day to day on our Instagram stories, but some things just need a bit more explaining…so here we are with the blog!
And for those of you that are brand new to WillowBee, hello! I’m Erin, owner and creator behind WillowBee Signs and I am so glad you are here! If you’re interested in the cliffsnotes ‘backstory’ keep reading below. Otherwise, thank you for being here and I hope you’ll find this as a space you can enjoy coming to for inspiration, new items in our shop, barn updates, and all things in between!
This journey started when I was in college working at a home decor store. My boss at the time gave me the opportunity to make “door hangers” to sell through the store, as she knew I was a crafty, somewhat artistic gal. So I used my brothers garage (or my apartment balcony…yeah my neighbors hated me, I’m sure of it) to cut out my designs and just about anywhere I could find to paint in the tiny apartment I lived in. It was an ugly process, but it was a start!
From then, I had always made signs on the side of my full time jobs in some form or fashion. In the Spring of 2018 I just felt like I had reached a point that “making signs on the side” was no longer a feasible option, as I truly could not keep up juggling both my full time job and what was becoming another full time job!
So, after trying to talk myself out of it more times than I can count, I finally decided to pursue making signs full time. I have been so fortunate to grow this business to where we are today and it has now become more of a “family affair” as my husband Tyler joined the business full time in June 2020.
We are so blessed and grateful to be on this journey together and thank you for choosing to shop small with us!
