For a lot of people, Fall is the coziest time of the year. Crisp mornings with a cup of coffee, evenings with the windows open wrapped in a warm blanket, and oversized sweatshirts all day every day. When it comes to decor, something about Fall colors and textures just make your entire home feel more warm and cozy than any other season.
If you’re like me, you may not go overboard with your seasonal decor, (and if you do, absolutely yes…more is more sometimes!) but you just want something simple to go with the change of the seasons. If so, below are three simple ideas to make it easy to transition to your Fall decor.
1. Find layering pieces that go with various seasons
Since our business is making signs, I naturally have a plethora of them to go with each season. And I often use them within my shelf displays and layer multiple signs for more dimension. In doing so, I have found that using a larger ‘background’ sign that can go with various seasons makes it easier when changing out from one season to the next. For example, the black and white plaid sign below can go with various seasons and is an easy swap when transitioning from Fall to Christmas decor. And it could easily be used for Spring as well! Kind of like having that one staple piece in your closet that you can layer everything else around.
2. Grab that greenery
I will ALWAYS throw some type of greenery within my displays. Not only does it provide a pop of color, but it just makes everything feel more inviting and welcoming. Whether you are someone who can actually keep plants alive (not my strong suit, BUT I am getting better) or prefer the faux kind that you can’t kill, weave them in to your decor for a more cozy feel. Again, most often you can easily use items that transition through the seasons and then add or subtract other items accordingly. Most all of our product photos use one of these faux greens/grasses.
3. bring in texture
Adding texture not only adds visual interest, but it cozies up a space instantly. Using warm neutrals with a little pop of color is a simple option for any fall decor. In the photos below, the birch tree branches and dried grape vines are an easy texture element that can be FREE from nature. Add a pop of color with pumpkins, florals, a sign, etc.. and there you have it. Things never have to be perfect, just keep playing with different elements, take a step back and tweak until you like it!
